Put on my fire

November 29, 2011

This should be my first pidgin poem…its actually a translation of Rekindle my Fire . I made it for some competition like that…whatever happened to that competition, i wonder…i hope i didnt stray too much while trying to translate it to pidgin..

E don tei wey I dey tanda only me wen i dey with my paddy dem,

E don tei wey only me dey waka for insyd of crowd,

I don see plenty-plenty faces wella,

But all of dem too resemble each & other.

The voices wey I dey hear too sound the same,

E dey like wan anoying whistle

Oyibo go say e dey: mono and tonous.

I don shake hands tire with plenty people dem,

Pako own rough, and Ajebuta soft

But wen I try to rizin am

I no fit even rememba which pesin I shake now, now.

I been smile for pesin wey I think say I know

And even come ansa say I dey fine

But for inside of my bodi, I know say no be so

E don tei wey no be so, e don tei wella.

I don loss finish, even my hope,  na small wey remain.

I just wish say I fit put on the fire

Wey been dey burn for inside my bodi,

Then I go tanda wella to tok when people dey talk

But my spirit don nearly die and I no see rizin to tanda.

E be like say I go continue to wakabout

Then smile and wave my hand when people wave give me.

I go wait for make the sun wake up

And for wen the moon enter position for night

Everyday go be a new day but to me

E go be like any other day.

<<<If e get as e dey do you and na only u dey, no allow make SHY stop you to knack the folo-folo botton for make i come join you dey, you go see am for the top and on the gight hand side of this page>>>
